We had been having septic problems for some time. No one could tell us what the problem was until we called Herring Sanitation Septic service. They came and quickly diagnosed the problem and gave us an affordable solution. They did the work and we now have a septic system that works beautifully for the first time in years. The men who did the job were knowledgeable and explained things as they worked. We highly recommend this company if you are in need of any kind of septic service. Herring is the best.

Response from the owner

To say Herring was amazing would be an understatement. Their team helped identify the root cause of our failed septic system, recommended and coordinated the engineer and BOH with us, as well as walked us through the whole process of what it would take to get our system fixed. We purchase our home in 2024, and eventually learned the original system had gone through years of neglect and was patched with several bandages over the years by other installers. Us and herring were on the same page of making it right and not doing patch work.

Response from the owner

Herring will forever remember your job but most of all your family. You were so kind and understanding. There were problems (especially because of the weather). Some customers are not as understanding as you but you were great. Thank you very much for this review. Jason just added that we enjoyed go above and beyond for you. Thanks again.

From the Google listing, checked 30 Aug 2026.

Customer reviews describe tank pump-outs done neatly and on time, with crews that explained the work as they went and asked before backing down a driveway. Several homeowners report bigger jobs, including a full system replacement where the crew coordinated with an engineer and the board of health through weeks of heavy rain. Joan wrote that the crew came out and "quickly diagnosed the problem" after a long stretch of septic trouble.

Before You Call

When a system has been slow for years and repairs have not held, an inspection can help decide between fixing it again and installing a new one. One question worth asking the office is how soon a crew can pump a tank that is backing up tonight.
