About Atlantic Septic

From the website of Atlantic Septic, read 15 Sept 2026. It describes what the company says it offers, not independent verification.

Atlantic Septic repairs and replaces drain fields, and that work extends to replacing an entire septic system. Homeowners can also call for a drain field or septic inspection, which is useful before a house closing or when a yard stays wet and the cause is unclear.

Septic Services in Lake Helen

Quoted from the website of Atlantic Septic, read 15 Sept 2026.

A percolation test measures how fast water is absorbed, and Atlantic Septic does this kind of testing. The ground around Lake Helen makes the result worth attention: about 80 percent of the rated ground there is very limited for drain fields, largely because the bottom layer of soil lets water leave too fast, risking groundwater.

They stole my deposit! Joss came out and gave me a estimate for 7k. I gave him the deposit. Then a couple months go by joss called back and said the water table is too high, now we need to put the drain field in closer to the surface, add a pump, and its going to need a more dirt to cover it. He said its gonna cost 10k. I said ok send me the new estimate. He never did. They won't answer the phone or return my call. Don't waste your time.

    Response from the owner

I understand you have concerns regarding your deposit, and I want to ensure we clear up any confusion regarding your deposit. Please be assured that the deposit was not stolen or mishandled. In accordance with our signed agreement on April 21, 2025, your deposit of $800.00 was applied directly to services rendered on May 27, 2025 payable to the private soil evaluator and on June 24, 2025 payable to the Seminole County Health Department (SCHD) for permitting purposes. We do not charge our customers for applying and obtaining permits. We only collect enough to pay for these services so that we don’t incur the burden of these costs in the event that the homeowner is unable to fulfill their contract for any reason. Based on the soil evaluation and water table, the SCHD issued the permit requiring a larger and mounded system which increased the original proposed amount. This is beyond our control. We are installers and we install systems based on what is required on the permit that the health department issues. I met the homeowner (Emily) onsite, re-shot the elevations, explained the SCHD’s findings at length. She informed me at that time that they did not have the additional funds to move forward and would call in the future. We never heard back from the customer, but did notice this review over a year later. A copy of the paid invoices from the soil evaluator and from the SCHD, as well as, a copy of the permit will be forwarded to the address on file for your records. We value your business and want to make sure you feel confident about how the funds from your deposit was applied.

We got amazing service from Joss and his team! It turned out our drain field was now at the water line due water levels remaining high after storms/hurricanes. So, they had to replace our septic tank and install new drain field higher than prior one. It all worked out great and we can flush toilets, do laundry, run dish washer again like all the cool people do. Thanks again!!!!!

Excellent young gentleman, Joss, came out the same day I called as septic was full and pump was not working. Other companies said they were out 4 days at least. Not good as couldn’t use water, toilets or the shower. Joss detected the problem and promptly came back the next day and after 2 hours it was all fixed. On time or early for every appointment, professional and friendly, very reasonable prices and excellent work. Highly recommended, a nice surprise that customer service still exists. Thank you very much

Joshua is amazing. Very friendly and prompt. Excellent job done and you will not get a better price.

From the Google listing, checked 30 Aug 2026.

The five-star reviews describe finished jobs. Bruce's drain field sat at the water line after storms, so Joss and the crew replaced his septic tank and installed the new field higher than the old one. When a full tank and a dead pump left another house unable to flush, Joss arrived the same day and the repair wrapped up within two hours the next day. Care with the yard comes up as well. Kristen says the crew did their best to "minimize the damage as much as possible", and Sebastian's visit covered a septic tank cleaning and inspection with every question answered.

Local Ground

Around Lake Helen, the main drain-field limit is bottom-layer seepage: water moves through the soil too fast to treat effluent before it reaches groundwater. Site conditions on any one lot can differ from the map. See the Lake Helen city page for the full soil profile.

Before You Call

Repair or replace is the decision facing a homeowner with a failing drain field, and a percolation test informs that call. One question worth asking on the phone: does the perc test come before any replacement is quoted?
